Privacy Policy

Last updated 3 October 2026

Liner is a browser extension that displays synced lyrics, their meaning, and translations for the music playing in your browser. This policy explains what it does and does not do with your data.

The short version

Liner has no server of its own. It has no advertising or analytics. Saved lines and optional recent lyrics stay on your device. Settings and song favorites may sync through your browser profile. Requests for lyrics, translations and romanisation go directly to third-party providers as described below.

What Liner accesses

What Liner stores

All of the following is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) and never leaves your device except to sync across your own signed-in Chrome profile, if you use Chrome sync:

You can remove saved lines in My lines, forget the current saved match beside the playback controls, and clear recent lyrics from My lines. Recent-lyrics history is off by default. Turning it off stops new history entries; Clear recent lyrics deletes existing entries. The operational lyrics cache is separate from opt-in searchable history. Removing the extension clears its local storage.

Third-party services

To fetch lyrics, annotations, credits, and translations, Liner makes requests directly from your browser to the following public services. Requests include the song title/artist and, for translations or romanisation, the requested lyric, phrase or word. Providers also receive normal network information such as your IP address. Liner does not add an account identifier or send your saved collection or searchable history to those services.

These services have their own privacy policies governing requests they receive. Lyrics, annotations, and credits are the property of their respective rights holders.

Data sharing and tracking

Liner contains no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. We do not have a server, so there is nothing for us to collect or share.
